Monaco stayed at the top of Ligue 1 after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Strasbourg at the Stade de la Meinau.
The result extended Strasbourg’s unbeaten run to three matches, with the hosts taking seven points from their last three games. Monaco, meanwhile, were forced to settle for a draw after being outplayed for long spells before recovering in the second half.
The visitors struggled to make an impact early on and did not manage a single shot on target during the opening 20 minutes. Their task became more difficult when Anis Soubeir had to be helped off the field.
Although Monaco enjoyed the greater share of possession, Strasbourg’s midfield pairing of Pape Diop and Gio Reyna disrupted their rhythm and repeatedly broke up their attacks.
Strasbourg grew stronger after the half-hour mark and went close to taking the lead when Gessime Yassine’s left-footed effort from 12 yards went just wide of the post.
That chance was one of five unanswered attempts from the home side as they controlled the closing stages of the first half. Filip Jorgensen was rarely called upon in the Strasbourg goal before the break.
The pressure finally told six minutes after half-time, although the opening goal came through an unfortunate mistake. Sadibou Sane, who had completed 100% of his passes up to that point, misjudged the flight of a free-kick and headed the ball beyond his own goalkeeper.
Monaco nearly responded immediately. Paris Brunner’s powerful header appeared destined for the net, but Jorgensen produced an acrobatic one-handed save to divert it on to the post.
The match settled into a period in which neither team was able to establish control, before Monaco found an equaliser through Brunner. After carrying the ball forward from midfield, he fired an unstoppable 30-yard shot into the top corner.
Monaco thought they had completed the comeback in the 87th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Strasbourg’s performance means they have lost only one of their past eight Ligue 1 home matches played on a Saturday, recording five wins and two draws in that sequence.
Filipe Luis’ Monaco side will have to accept dropping points and failing to win for the first time in 2026/27.
