Modric looking for brighter season as Milan make winning start

Luka Modric says he hopes the new campaign will prove more successful for both himself and Milan after the Italian club began their Serie A season with two victories.

“I really hope that this year will be better for both me and Milan,” the Croatia midfielder said.

Milan opened the new season by beating Torino before following that result with another win against Venezia. Those two victories provide an early positive backdrop to Modric’s hopes for a more productive campaign, both personally and for the club.

The 2024-25 season ended with Milan finishing fifth in Serie A. Modric believes the current campaign can develop more favourably, with the team having already collected maximum points from their first two matches.

His comments focus on the contrast between last season’s final league position and the way Milan have started this one. The club’s wins over Torino and Venezia mean they have taken six points from their opening fixtures, while Modric is hoping the improvement will extend beyond the opening results.

For the midfielder, the ambition is twofold: to experience a better year himself and to help Milan achieve a stronger outcome than fifth place. His assessment comes at the beginning of a season in which the team have made an immediate winning start.

Milan’s results against Torino and Venezia are the only matches referred to in connection with the new campaign. Both ended in victory, giving the club a perfect record after two Serie A games.

The previous season’s fifth-place finish remains the key benchmark for comparison. Modric’s message is that he expects the new year to offer a better experience for both the player and the club, while Milan’s early results have given that hope an encouraging foundation.
