After his brace in NYCFC's 2-0 win over Inter Miami, manager Ronny Deila lauded Taty Castellanos as "top-class."

Castellanos has had to bear a far larger goalscoring responsibility than he would have imagined because Heber has been out with an ACL injury since September 2020.

However, in 18 MLS games this season, the Argentine has scored eight goals and assisted on another six, both club highs.

His most recent goals came in a crucial 2-0 win over Inter Miami on Saturday, putting NYCFC in second place in the Eastern Conference. The first came from a precise header at the far post following a fantastic Moralez pass, and he added to his score shortly before halftime from the penalty spot.

“Off the pitch, he does everything right all the time, he’s fit and he battles,” Deila said of Castellanos via MLSsoccer. “Right now, he can do it alone, but we have more depth in the squad and we could play two up front as well when Talles [Magno] is more fit and Heber is back again. What Taty has done this year has been top class."
