When Chicharito returns to full fitness, LA Galaxy coach Greg Vanney has indicated that new acquisition Dejan Joveljic may form a striking combination with him.
The five-time MLS Cup champions recently paid a reported $4 million sum to bring the Serbian striker to California, bolstering their offensive options ahead of the MLS season's second half.
Joveljic has plenty of European goal-scoring experience, having scored 17 times in 32 Austrian Bundesliga games for Wolfsberger AC last season, and 11 times in 24 appearances across all competitions for Red Star Belgrade in 2018/19.
Nonetheless, the purchase of Joveljic has some wondering how Vanney wants to fit his new addition alongside the club's incumbent DP striker Chicharito, who has 10 goals in 866 minutes of MLS play this season. There was even talk that Joveljic might be shifted to midfield or out wide.
However, Vanney maintains that he will utilize the 24-year-old in his best position and that Joveljic may even accompany Chicharito in a two-man forward line, as well as rotating the duo when the MLS calendar shortens.
