After a struggling first season with the United States of America (USA) National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side, Houston Dash in 2021, Nigeria international winger, Michelle Alozie has put the past behind her to have a great season this term.

Alozie started her youth career with the Legend FC and Granite Hills Cougars before playing for Yale Bulldogs and Tennessee Lady Volunteers at the College level.

She joined Houston Dash last year (2021) from a brief adventure with BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan and managed four games in the United States NWSL without any goal or assist, getting two yellow cards in the process.

The 2022 season came after her senior national team experience with Nigeria as she made her debut on 10 June 2021 as a 65th-minute substitution in a 1-0 friendly loss to Jamaica.

California raised player played a series of friendly games leading to the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2022) Qualifiers and was part of the team at the main tournament in Morocco where Nigeria finished in the fourth position and picked one of four automatic tickets for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

During the 2022 NWSL season, Micelle Alozie played 10 games for Houston Dash and scored two goals with a yellow card, an improvement on her first year with the team.

She scored her first goal on June 4, 2022, as Houston Dash thrashed Orlando Pride 5-0 at the PNC Stadium, Houston, scoring the fifth goal.

Her second goal was instrumental as she came off the bench to score the crucial last gasp-goal as Houston Dash forced Washington Spirit to a 2-2 draw on August 28, 2022.

Houston Dash after its top six finish at the end of the NWSL Regular season has qualified for the Playoffs.

Alozie and her team will now shift their focus on the NWSL Playoffs where they will face Kansas City Current in the quarter-final for a chance to win the NWSL Championship.
