Michael Essien has been left out of the AC Milan squad for Wednesday’s clash against Genoa.
The 32-year-old, who has played a bit-part role in Milan's difficult campaign this term, will not be involved when the crisis-hit team take on Genoa at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Essien has endured a rather difficult spell since he joined the Italian side from Chelsea.
His compatriot Sulley Muntari has been handed a shock inclusion in the squad despite deciding in conjunction with the club not to take part in games because his contract would not be renewed.
