Former Chelsea’s Technical Director Michael Emenalo has thrown his hat in the race for the newly crafted Director job at Serie A side, Roma, as reported by the Roma Press.

AS Roma’s new American owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin are looking to hire a new CEO, COO, General Director, and Sporting Director as the club seeks to overhaul its administrative structures.

Among the names already mentioned are former Red Bull Leipzig Head of Sport Ralf Rangnick and Nigeria’s Michael Emenalo.

Emenalo, one of Europe’s most acclaimed directors, enjoyed tremendous success at Chelsea.

Moving from chief scout, his initial job in 2007, to assistant first-team coach and then technical director in 2011, Emenalo worked with ten managers in ten years.

But that period between 2009 and 2017 when he was at the heart of the Blues’ operations brought the London club an unprecedented UEFA Champions League crown and three Premier League titles under a trio of managers.

The former Nigeria international left Chelsea in 2017 and was quickly snapped up by French Ligue 1 side Monaco where he was until last year.

Arsenal icon Ian Wright recently charged Manchester United to replace Ed Woodward with Emenalo in recognition of his success in England.

The 55-year-old played 14 times for the Nigerian national team during a ten-year international career and featured three times for the Super Eagles at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
