Former Asante Kotoko star midfielder Michael Asante who passed away last month is lying in state in Kumasi and will be laid to rest on Saturday afternoon.
Asante died in Kumasi aged 39 after after battling illness.
Football administrators, former players and current players including Asante Kotoko officials have gathered in Kumasi to bid farewell to the player who was known for his workaholic abilities in the middle of the field.
Michael Asante passed away in KumasiFormer AshantiGold midfielder Gabriel Opoku-Ware shared a picture of Asante 'laid in state' and updated his Facebook status with a picture of Asante' body and post: "Our own Hero Michael Asante lying motionless there. Families, wife, children, friends and loved ones have gathered here wailing, crying mourning our Miki "Awilo" Santos."
