Maxwell Konadu and Nassam Yakubu will stay on as Ghana assistant coach and goalkeepers' trainer respectively after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) revealed that they will not make changes to the technical team of the Black Stars.
Reports in the Ghanaian media had suggested that coach Avram Grant has requested changes to his backroom staff with the duo heading for the exit after the country's excellent showing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Israeli manager was reported not to be happy with the technical team which has been in place before he took over the side.
It was speculated that Grant wants Spanish trianer Gus Gerard as his assistant while he wants ex-international goalkeeper Abubakari Damba to take over from Yakubu.
However, GFA Executive Committee member and chairman of the Black Stars management committee George Afriyie says no such changes have been requested by the Israeli manager.
“With the changes to the backroom staff of the Black Stars, the Coach indicated before his appointment that he will first want to work with them and know whether he will need to upgrade their level of competence,” Mr. Afriyie told Starr FM.
“If he thinks that if there is somebody there that he cannot work with, then he will make recommendations to the management team. Now, we have not received any such thing so we stick to what we have,” he added.
Nassam and Konadu all contributed to Ghana successes at the AFCON.
