Accra Hearts of Oak slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Wa All Stars in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday afternoon.
Abdul Ganiyu Ismael scored from the spot in the 28th minute before Emmanuel Ocran sealed the points for Jimmy Kobla’s side a minute from full time to consign the Phobians to their first defeat in six league games.
Herbert Addo led Hearts to the Upper West region hoping to improve Hearts’ stats at the Wa Park but were made to endure a painful loss which would leave a blot on their resurgence.
For All Stars, it was a confirmation of superiority over the 22-time giants at the venue as they went on all guns blazing, totally dominating and outclassing their guest.
The opening goal, which arrived after Inusah Musah fouled an All Stars forward inside the box and Ganiyu stepped up to slid the ball past Tetteh Luggard with delightful expertise and wheeling away to celebrate with his technical team bench and later on the fans.
Emmanuel Hayford and Isaac Mensah who had replaced the injured Maxwell Boakye battled through thick and thin to restore parity for Hearts but Togolese Foovi who had scored twice on a row failed to find the back of the net.
After the recess, All Stars continued to boss the midfield and piled more pressure which pecked Hearts further back.
The final nail was struck into the Hearts coffin when Ocran sensationally through the backline and fired past Luggard for the second goal.
The stoppage-time was not even enough to help Hearts get a consolation goal.
