The match commissioner for Sunday’s Nigeria league match between Kano Pillars and Ikorodu United, Tanko Nuru, is dead.
Nuru from Nasarawa State,who lives in Abuja with his family, was found dead in his hotel room on Monday.
Pillars spokesman Idris Malikawa confirmed the match official’s death.
“He was found dead in his hotel room this morning (Monday) when all efforts for him to open his room door proved abortive,” said Malikawa.
“It is really tragic because he was hail and hearty on Sunday night.”
Hosts Pillars beat Ikorodu United 2-1 in a Nigeria league Week 15 clash on Sunday.
