Former Real Madrid star Marcelo is close to joining the leadership structure at Nantes as part of an ambitious plan to revive the struggling French club.
The Brazilian could take on the role of ambassador for Nantes, who are currently playing in the second tier of French football. His involvement would come as the club moves towards a potential change of ownership.
Paulo Tavares, a 62-year-old French-Portuguese businessman, is close to completing the purchase of Nantes. Tavares, head of Phoenix Sport Invest, has already submitted documents outlining his proposals for the club.
The plans have been seen by French newspaper L'Equipe.
Marcelo is part of Tavares' inner circle and could represent Nantes under the proposed new ownership structure.
