Manchester United’s heavy Champions League defeat by Como has increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.
United were beaten 4-1 away from home on Wednesday, suffering another damaging result under Carrick’s leadership.
The Telegraph published an assessment of the club’s latest setback, with journalist James Ducker describing the performance in stark terms.
“Manchester United humiliated in Como defeat – this kind of performance usually leads to a manager being sacked,” read the headline of Ducker’s article.
Carrick is currently under serious pressure as United struggle in both competitions. The club are 13th in the Premier League and sit 20th in the Champions League.
The result against Como adds to the scrutiny surrounding the manager, with United’s next chance to respond coming on 25 October against Bournemouth.
