Manchester United target fresh start after Carrick and Fernandes meet

Published on: 28 October 2026

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has spoken with captain Bruno Fernandes in an effort to clarify the situation at the club, according to journalist Daniel Khan.

The meeting, held at Manchester United’s training ground, focused on the need to prioritise results and change the team’s current fortunes, with both men agreeing that other matters should be set aside for now.

It is not known whether Fernandes apologised for his public criticism of Carrick during the discussion.

The meeting was followed by a squad gathering, at which the players acknowledged that their recent performances and results had been unconvincing. The team has since agreed to make a fresh start.

Manchester United are 16th in the Premier League after eight matches, having collected seven points.
