Manchester United are thrilled to announce the signing of 20-year-old Canadian international Simi Awujo, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Simi’s contract is until the end of the 2026/27 season, subject to registration.

Awujo joins the Red Devils from the University of Southern California's USC Trojans, where she played in the United States collegiate system.

Simisola Feyishayo Awujo was born on September 23, 2003, in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States to Nigerian parents of Yoruba extraction – Dr. Akinwole Awujo a Medical Doctor, and Dr. Mrs. Shola Okuwa-Awujo a Pharmacist.

The midfielder has already made a significant impact on the international stage, earning 19 caps for Canada, including a senior debut at just 18 years old.

She recently helped her country reach the quarter-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Awujo expressed her excitement about joining Manchester United, saying: "To say that I'm a professional footballer for Manchester United is insane.

“I'm so excited for the season ahead, what the future holds here, and just to be a Red Devil. I cannot wait to play in front of the great Manchester United fans."
