Manchester United offer Bruno Fernandes deal until 2029 with appearance-based extensions

Manchester United have yet to agree a new contract with Bruno Fernandes, with the length of the proposed deal understood to be the main obstacle in negotiations.

The club have opened talks with the Portugal midfielder over extending his stay at Old Trafford and are keen to retain their captain. However, Manchester United are reportedly concerned that Fernandes could see his performances decline in the coming years.

According to TEAMtalk, the proposed arrangement would keep Fernandes at the club until 2029, but with a significant condition attached. His contract would be extended periodically if he reaches an agreed number of appearances.

The two sides remain in discussions as they try to settle the disagreement over the duration of the agreement.

Fernandes, 32, has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

His current Manchester United contract is due to expire next summer.
