Manchester United are in pole position to sign Como winger Assane Diao after club scouts were impressed by the Senegal international’s performances in Italy.
The 21-year-old has been watched by United representatives during Como’s matches against Genoa, Parma and Frosinone. According to 4-4-2, the reports from those games have strengthened the English club’s belief in Diao’s potential.
United are considering further attacking reinforcements despite already having Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in their forward options.
Diao joined Como in January 2025 and has made a strong impact since arriving. He has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His form has also led to interest from several other Premier League clubs. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Everton and Brentford are all understood to be monitoring the winger, increasing the competition for his signature.
Como set asking price
Como are reluctant to part with Diao and have set an initial asking price of between 50 and 55 million euros for the player.
That figure would require United to decide whether to meet the Italian club’s demands in order to move ahead of their domestic rivals. Diao is currently valued at 30 million euros, while his annual salary in Italy is 930,000 euros, equivalent to 604,500,000 FCFA.
The Senegal international remains under contract with Como until 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position as interest in him grows.
Diao’s displays have made him one of the players attracting the most attention around the Serie A side. For United, the next step will be determining whether his potential justifies the fee Como are demanding.
Como are due to play their sixth league match of the season against AS Roma shortly.
