Manchester City’s winning start to the English championship ended at seven matches after they were beaten 2-1 away by Aston Villa in Birmingham on matchday eight.
The result means Jose Mourinho’s Premier League record remains intact. In the 2005-06 season, Mourinho led Chelsea to nine consecutive victories from the beginning of the campaign, a mark that is still the best start in the history of the English Premier League.
Mourinho is currently working in Spain with Real Madrid, who are preparing for an important fixture against Barcelona.
