FC Lorient have extended Mamadou Kone’s contract until June 2030, rewarding the 19-year-old striker after an impressive start to life in the club’s first team.

The Ivory Coast forward joined Lorient in September 2025 from Academie Africa Foot in Mali and has since begun to establish himself within the professional squad. The new agreement represents a long-term commitment from the Ligue 1 McDonald’s club to one of its emerging young players.

Kone has made six appearances in France’s top flight this season, including a decisive contribution in Lorient’s 1-0 victory over RC Lens at Stade Bollaert. He scored the only goal of the match, producing a notable moment in his early senior career and demonstrating his ability to influence important games.

His progress had already been evident with Lorient’s reserve side before he made the step up to Ligue 1 McDonald’s. During the previous season, Kone scored nine goals in 24 National 1 appearances.

Those figures highlighted his attacking potential and helped earn him opportunities around the first-team group. Lorient have now moved to secure his future as he continues his development within the club.

Kone’s current market value is estimated at 2 million euros by Transfermarkt. At 19, he has signed a contract that gives him a settled long-term platform at Lorient while the club assesses his continued progression.

The next challenge for Lorient will come against AS Monaco in the seventh round of the French championship. The fixture will provide another opportunity for Kone to build on his early Ligue 1 McDonald’s experience after his goalscoring contribution against RC Lens.
