Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman played a key role as Atlético Madrid sealed qualification for the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League with an emphatic 4–1 victory over Club Brugge, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Spanish side completed a dominant playoff performance, advancing with a 7–4 aggregate scoreline after a commanding display at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Head coach Diego Simeone initially left Lookman on the bench before introducing the Nigerian attacker in the 70th minute as a replacement for Álex Baena.

Lookman wasted little time in making his presence felt. Just six minutes after stepping onto the pitch, he delivered a decisive assist for Alexander Sørloth, who netted Atletico’s third goal of the night.

Sørloth went on to complete a hat-trick in a clinical attacking display, while Johnny Cardoso added the fourth goal to round off a convincing performance from the LaLiga side. The visitors’ only response came through Ecuadorian defender Joel Ordóñez.

Lookman’s latest contribution brings his season tally to four goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions, highlighting his growing importance in Simeone’s plans as Atletico continue their pursuit of European success.
