Ademola Lookman came on as a substitute as Atlético Madrid secured a victory over Getafe CF at the Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Nahuel Molina gave Atletico the lead just eight minutes into the encounter to set the tone for the hosts.
Getafe’s hopes of mounting a comeback suffered a major setback in the 55th minute when Abdel Abqar was sent off, leaving the visitors with ten men for the remainder of the match.
Lookman later replaced Thiago Almada in the 69th minute as Diego Simeone’s side looked to maintain control of the contest.
The 28-year-old Nigerian winger has now gone six consecutive matches without scoring for Atletico, with his tally standing at one goal in six league appearances since joining the Spanish side.
Despite that, Atletico Madrid remain in strong form, having suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions.
