Lookman: Boniface should have been nominated for CAF Men's Player of the Year
Boniface poses with trophies won for Leverkusen

Ademola Lookman has expressed his belief that his fellow Nigerian player, Victor Boniface, deserved to be nominated for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Boniface enjoyed an exceptional season with Bayer Leverkusen, contributing significantly to the team's success in winning both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal titles. Throughout 34 appearances, the 23-year-old forward netted 21 goals, showcasing his importance to the team.

In a statement, Lookman, who is also a Leverkusen player, remarked, “Boniface, my teammate, had an amazing season last year. With his remarkable achievements, his personal goals, and the two titles he helped Leverkusen secure, I think he deserved a nomination.”

Despite his strong support for Boniface, Lookman emphasized that decisions like these are beyond his control: "They were unbeaten in their league, which was special. Maybe he could have been nominated for sure, but you know I am not the one that makes the rules."

He further added that the organizers may have made an error by overlooking Boniface's impressive season, expressing disappointment at the omission.
