Lobi And MFM Battle For 2016 Gold Cup Tomorrow

Lobi Stars will battle MFM for this year’s Gold Cup on Sunday after both teams won their respective semi-finals.

Lobi shocked defending champions Kano Pillars 3-1, while MFM beat Remo Stars 4-2 on penalties after full time scores stood at 1-1.

Gambo Mohammed put Pillars ahead with a cool finish after a quarter of an hour.

However, Lobi Stars cancelled Pillars lead after Sunday Akleche scored from the penalty spot in the 30th minute.

The second half was even for both teams as they displayed best of football artistry.

Nwangwa Nyima put Lobi Stars ahead with a 72nd minute goal, before Ifeanyi Inyam added a third goal eight minutes later.

In the other semi-final, MFM got the first goal with a fine finish by Stephen Odey to put his goals tally to two in three matches.

A rejuvenated Sky Blues showed class as they scored an equalizer in the 72nd minute when Opeoluwa Olufemi nodded from a cross.
