Liverpool's Cameron Brannagan Set for Wigan Loan Move After Hold Up

"?Liverpool's Cameron Brannagan is reportedly close to moving to Wigan Athletic on a loan move, as his parent club look for him to gain regular playing time in a first team environment.

"?Joseph Musker, who covers Liverpool for Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, stated on Twitter that the 20-year-old will move to the Championship club in a year-long deal.

The deal took some time to be completed as the Merseyside club impose strict stipulations to such deals, with clubs having to ensure that loanees play in at least 75% of fixtures or else face a financial penalty.

Wigan are now happy to agree to the loan terms imposed by Liverpool, and look set to sign Cameron Brannagan on a season-long loan deal.

The attacking midfielder made nine first team appearances last season, and manager Jurgen Klopp is known to be an admirer of his talents, but Brannagan himself has said that loan moves are beneficial to young players.

The midfielder told the "?Liverpool Echo that playing more regularly would help to hone his game.

"I can see the benefits of a loan. If I'm not going to get regular game time here, I'd love the experience of what it's like because that's something I've not done before.

"It would be good for me as a young lad to experience men's football on a regular basis so I'd like to do it soon.

"It's a big jump from playing in the under-21s to the Premier League with how quick the tempo is.

"Going out on loan, playing Championship football against men would be good experience for me. I'd like to do that.

"We'll see what the manager wants to do with me. It's still early days. Jurgen will come and speak to me about that when he feels it's the right time."?

Klopp has increased his playing staff significantly over the summer, and with Saido Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum both ahead of Brannagan in the pecking order, it is no surprise to see him leave Anfield on a loan basis.
