Liverpool's Adam Lallana Gives Fitness Update Ahead of Monumental Clash Against Manchester United

Published on: 16 October 2016

"?Liverpool and England midfielder Adam Lallana has given an update regarding his fitness as the Reds prepare to take on rivals Manchester United on Monday night.

The 28-year-old could not feature for England during the international break after suffering a groin injury in a match against Swansea City, and has told the "?South China Morning Post that he's 'touch and go' for the upcoming match against United at Anfield.

However, he has admitted that the match will be quite significant.

"It's a massive game, especially since we've lost the last four league games against them," he said. "They're a team that are filled with superstars.

"They might have had a couple of indifferent results lately, but it's still going to be a very difficult game for us. And with [Jose] Mourinho coming to Anfield I'm sure the build-up will be big. If we play how we've been playing, then we're a force against any team."

The player also thinks that the extra 1,000 fans inside the newly-renovated Anfield could make a huge difference.

"The new stand is magnificent. It creates a special atmosphere," he added. "I'm sure on Monday night the atmosphere will be outstanding against United."?

Liverpool have been playing at their very best this season under Jurgen Klopp, and not many teams have been able to withstand their threat. They currently sit in fourth place in the table, while United trail three spots below and three points adrift.

A win against Mourinho's side would certainly see them stake their claim for the title. They would also join Manchester City at the top of the table, and depending on the number of goals scored, could be No.1 in the standings by the end of it all.
