Liverpool’s sixth Premier League match of the season ended in a heavy home defeat as Manchester City scored three unanswered goals at Anfield while the hosts were playing with 10 men.
The result was one of Liverpool’s heaviest defeats at Anfield since the club began competing in the Premier League.
Liverpool had previously lost 4-1 at home to Chelsea in October 2005 and by the same score against Manchester City in February 2021. They have also suffered 3-0 defeats at Anfield against West Ham in August 2015 and Nottingham Forest in November 2025.
Liverpool’s next fixture is against Brentford on Saturday.
