The Premier League champions have been linked with a move for the Lille forward in recent weeks but he now looks bound for Serie A
Liverpool’s most immediate challenge is to win their final three games of the season and beat Manchester City ’s Premier League points tally.
However, the recent draw with Burnley has given the Reds food for thought not just when it comes to that challenge, but also in terms of their preparations for the 2020/21 season: they may now decide they need to strengthen ahead of what won’t be an easy title defence next season.
We’ve got updates from around Europe regarding which players might be moving to Anfield this summer… and one man who seemingly won’t be making such a switch
Lille and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen was mentioned in connection with Liverpool earlier in the summer, but he now seems poised to complete a switch to Napoli.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the forward has met with the club’s sporting director and the deal will soon be made official.
Football Italia had earlier reported AC Milan were attempting to clinch a deal for Osimhen, who is valued at more than €50m
The former Wolfsburg frontman scored 18 goals for Lille in the 2019/20 season, helping the club finish fourth, and also netted against Chelsea in the Champions League. The 21-year-old also scored his first international goals for Nigeria in 2019
