Liverpool and Newcastle on RED ALERT as Andre Ayew eyes Marseille exit
ANdre Ayew could leave Marseille

Ghana midfielder ANDRE AYEW's revelation that he could leave French giants Marseille because of a disagreement over his wages has put English clubs Liverpool and Newcastle in the red alert as they seek to grab the talented player on a free transfer in June.

The Ghanaian international's contract the Stade Veldrome expires at the end of the season and speculation surrounding his future has been rife.

Marseille are keen to retain the 25-year-old's services but lack the financial clout to match  the winger's current wage demands.

Ayew is unwilling to take a pay-cut and has hinted he could leave the south of France if the Ligue 1 side offer him less money.

"OM have financial problems and they cannot afford to pay certain wages," Ayew told RTL.

"I am a Marseille player at this stage and could still stay here. My future is still open.

"There will soon be a meeting to discuss my future. But I will not accept a paycut to stay at OM. Every player wants to make progress, in all aspects.

"If the club want me to leave, then I will go. But I like Marseille."

Ayew's admission will certainly have caught the attentions of Newcastle and Liverpool.

The Premier League giants are big admirers of the Ghana star, who has scored four goals in 16 league appearances for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.
