Liverpool could make a move for AZ Alkmaar attacking midfielder Kees Smit in the winter transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The Merseyside club have admired the 20-year-old Netherlands midfielder for some time and are considering whether to pursue a deal. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is personally interested in bringing Smit to the club and believes the player would suit his demands for an intense pressing game.
A transfer could cost Liverpool 60 million euros.
However, Liverpool face competition from several other Premier League clubs. Chelsea, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Brighton are also reported to be interested in Smit.
Smit has made six appearances for AZ Alkmaar in all competitions this season and has provided two assists.
