After failing to agree on a contract extension with the Reds, the Dutch international, Wijnaldum joined the French club on a free transfer.
L'Equipe reported a friend of the 30-year-old as stating, "Signing him for three years was a mistake" (via Football365). “He's 30 years old, but he began his professional career when he was 16 years old, and he's worn out; his finest days are behind him.”
Jurgen Klopp's side began the domestic season without a clear replacement for their previous No. 5, with peripheral player Naby Keita and prodigy Harvey Elliott impressing early on.
Wijnaldum according to report wanted improved contract from Liverpool. The club didn't want to give in to his request and that led to him going on a free to PSG.
