A bout of coronavirus and the emergence of Pedri doomed Miralem Pjanic's Barcelona career from the start, reports Sport.
The ex-Juventus midfielder was laid low with the virus shortly after arriving at Camp Nou, and as he struggled to regain sharpness he lost his place to the teenager.
Pjanic's relationship with Ronald Koeman never recovered from that inauspicious beginning, and the pair barely spoke until he eventually left for Besiktas on loan.
The Turkish Champion club, according to the press release, will pay the player a part of the salary equal to €2.75m (30% of what he receives in Blaugrana).
The Bosnian was known to be linked with Juventus, AS Roma, Napoli, and Fiorentina, but in the end he did not fully convince them to take him even with the Catalans paying part of his admittedly massive salary.
