According to Diario AS, Joan Laporta and the Barcelona leadership are unhappy with Jordi Alba. The veteran fullback is adamant about not lowering his pay, which is set to expire in 2024. Barcelona needs him to come to an agreement with the club and take a wage reduction to assist the Catalan club get out of their financial bind.

Gerard Pique accepted a salary cut to allow Barcelona to acquire Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Rey Manaj for La Liga, and Alba is expected to do the same as one of the team's leaders. He's allegedly been given permission to postpone payment of €10 million of his contract, which means it won't be paid until the conclusion of his deal.

Alba was particularly upset by Lionel Messi's departure and was booed by some fans during Barcelona's 3-0 win over Juventus in the Joan Gamper final at the Estadi Johan Cruyff last Sunday. Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets are presently in talks with Pique about lowering their salary.
