Mainz central defender Leon Balogun showed his sportsmanship by congratulating the Black Stars in the wake of their 4-1 thrashing of the Super Eagles in the final of the WAFU Cup on Sunday night.
And he has sparked a debate over which of the the two countries make the best Jollof rice, a rice dish popular in most West African countries, stating that Nigeria cook the best Jollof rice.
Goals from Stephen Sarfo (2), Vincent Atingah and Winnful Cobbinah secured a win for the Black Stars, while Rabiu Ali scored the pick of the goals in second half stoppage time.
Writing on Twitter, German-born Balogun stated : ''Well, what can I say. Nigeria’s lost, Ghana’s won, but our jollof’s still the no.1 ??? Congrats Black Stars, well deserved ????''.
Leon Balogun has earned 10 international caps for the Super Eagles since making his debut against Mexico in 2014.
The 29-year-old was included in the ceremonial CAF XI for match day three and four in the World Cup qualifiers
