Leeds United 'Part Company' With Manager Steve Evans After 7 Months

Published on: 30 May 2016

"?Leeds United have officially 'parted company' with manager Steve Evans just seven months after the former Crawley and Rotherham boss took over at Elland Road.

Assistant manager Paul Raynor has also left the club having followed Evans from Rotherham. The pair have been walking together for more than 10 years since their time at Boston United.

"I would like to thank Steve Evans for his efforts as the head coach of Leeds United," club chairman Massimi Celino told LeedsUnited.com.

Evans, the sixth managerial appointment since Celino assumed control of the club in early 2014, took over the job from the sacked Uwe Rosler last October. Leeds later went on to finish 13th in the final Championship table after winning half of their final 12 games.

"Steve completed the job he was brought in to carry out "? to keep the team in the Championship - and his hard work here has been greatly appreciated. I wish him and Paul Raynor the very best for the future.

"We have, however, decided that a different approach is required in order to achieve our targets for the new season.

"The club is now looking to appoint a new head coach to build on the good work of Steve and Paul and deliver the special season which our supporters deserve."

Leeds confirmed that an announcement with regard to a new manager will be made 'in due course'.
