Enoch Andoh’s call-up to the Ghana U23 side could have far-reaching repercussions which may see him become the first Port Vale Olympian.

Andoh’s Ghana U23 side have reached the second-round of qualifying for the CAF U-23 Championship competition after a 7-1 aggregate win over Liberia.

The next step for Enoch is the two-legged second round clash between Ghana and Congo which takes place later this month.

Should Ghana progress then they need to win a third round tie against the Nigerian U23 side to reach the finals, which will be held in Senegal in December.

While this could result in Andoh missing a chunk of Vale’s season qualification for the finals in Senegal does have a huge prize attached.

If Ghana U23 reach the finals and finish in the top three then they qualify for a place in the 2016 summer Olympics football competition in Brazil.

There’s clearly a long way to go but we’re sure that all Vale fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that Andoh’s side manage to achieve a coveted spot at Rio and that in the process he becomes the club’s first-ever Olympian.
