Lazio have made their strongest start to a Serie A season in the 21st century after extending their unbeaten opening run with a 2-1 win over Parma on Saturday.
The Rome club have won seven of their eight league matches so far, maintaining their challenge near the top of the table. They are currently second in Serie A.
Lazio’s record means they have avoided defeat in each of their first eight matches for only the sixth time in the club’s history. It is the first occasion they have achieved that feat in the 21st century.
The previous example came in the 1999/2000 campaign, when Lazio went on to win the Italian championship for the second and, so far, final time in their history.
Their latest victory over Parma keeps them on course for another notable season, with Lazio having lost none of their opening eight Serie A fixtures.
