Lazio consider Yves Bissouma as midfield cover after transfer window closes

Published on: 11 September 2026

Lazio are assessing the free-agent market following the official closure of the transfer window, with Yves Bissouma emerging as a leading candidate to strengthen their midfield.

The Rome club are also looking at the situation of former Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, but Bissouma is being considered in response to recent injuries in midfield.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio are closely monitoring the former Tottenham player. The Mali international is currently viewed as the most credible option available to add depth and experience to that area of the squad.

Despite having room to make additions, Lazio’s directors are not planning to rush into a deal. The club intends to adopt a cautious approach and take the necessary time before deciding whether to make a formal move for the 30-year-old.

Bissouma has attracted interest from elsewhere, with Ajax Amsterdam also having approached him, as previously reported exclusively by Africafoot. Other Serie A clubs are understood to be monitoring the Mali international as well.

His current market value is €10m. During his time in London, Bissouma earned an annual salary of €3,219,788, equivalent to 2,092,862,200 FCFA.

Lazio’s next fixture is against AC Milan in the fourth round of the Italian championship.
