Lautaro Martinez scored twice in Inter’s dramatic victory over Napoli to move into third place in the club’s all-time Serie A goalscoring rankings.
The Argentina forward’s double took his league total for Inter to 134 goals, one more than former Hungary international Istvan Nyers, who had scored 133 times for the Milan club in Serie A.
Only two players now stand above Martinez in Inter’s historical top-flight scoring list. Giuseppe Meazza remains first with 197 goals, while Benito Lorenzi occupies second place with 138.
Martinez’s latest achievement adds another landmark to his career at Inter, where he has played since joining the club in 2018. His two goals against Napoli not only helped decide a high-profile and dramatic match but also moved him beyond Nyers in a ranking that covers the entire history of Inter’s participation in Italy’s top division.
The 134-goal mark places Martinez just four goals behind Lorenzi, meaning the Argentine is within reach of second place. Meazza’s tally of 197 remains the clear benchmark at the top of the list.
Martinez has therefore become one of only three players to score at least 134 Serie A goals for Inter. The latest change in the ranking reflects the significance of his continued scoring contribution since arriving in Milan eight years ago.
Nyers, who scored 133 times for Inter in the Italian top flight, had occupied third position before the match against Napoli. Martinez’s first goal moved him level with the Hungarian, while his second gave him sole possession of the position.
The result leaves the historical order headed by Meazza, followed by Lorenzi and Martinez. The Argentine’s next target is now Lorenzi’s total, with the gap between the two reduced to four goals.
His progress also underlines the longevity of Martinez’s record with Inter. Since 2018, he has established himself among the club’s most productive goalscorers in Serie A, and the Napoli match provided a particularly notable moment in that rise.
