Coventry secured their first Premier League victory in 25 years by beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the fifth round of the competition.
Jay Dasilva scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute, giving Frank Lampard’s side a lead they defended despite sustained pressure from the hosts.
Nottingham Forest did find the net in the second half, but Igor Jesus’ goal was ruled out after a VAR review for a foul.
The result was Coventry’s first Premier League win since 16 April 2001, when they defeated Sunderland 1-0.
Coventry left the top division at the end of that season and did not return until 2026.
Lampard’s team arrived at Nottingham Forest having lost each of their first four league matches of the campaign. They had also failed to score in any of those games before Dasilva’s decisive strike.
