Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has won the Kopa Trophy for a third consecutive year at Monday’s ceremony in London.
His Barcelona team-mate Pau Cubarsi finished second, with Warren Zaire-Emery of Paris Saint-Germain in third. Cubarsi came close to taking the award, receiving only two fewer votes than Yamal, according to Sport.
The Kopa Trophy is presented annually by France Football to the best player aged under 21. Yamal’s latest success continues his dominance of the award, although he previously said Cubarsi deserved to win it instead.
Both Barcelona players were part of the Spain side that became world champions last summer.
Yamal was also among the candidates for the Ballon d’Or, where he finished third behind Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.
