A proposed move for former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal to Getafe has collapsed after difficulties agreeing the terms of his contract, according to Cadena SER.
La Liga reportedly considered the €400,000 salary offered to the player too low, given that Carvajal had previously earned €10m. The league’s approval was required before the transfer could be completed.
Carvajal had already undergone a medical examination as he looked set to join Getafe, but the deal was not finalised after the contract issue emerged.
The 34-year-old Spanish defender has been a free agent since the summer, when his contract with Real Madrid ended. He came through the academy at the Madrid club.
Transfermarkt values Carvajal at €3.5m.
