Breaking News: Adam Kwarasey set to return for Ghana, named for Canada friendly
Ghana goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey says he will return to the Black Stars next month

USA-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has ended his 16-month self-imposed international exile, revealing that will return to the Ghana national team next month, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

Portland Timbers shot-stopper has revealed that he has been handed an invitation for next month's friendly against Canada in the United States capital of Washington.

The 28-year-old, who is in top form for his MLS side, has told a Ghanaian journalist that he is returning to the national team for the first time since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The glovesman put himself on international exile after the tournament in Brazil after publicly hitting out at Black Stars goalkeepers' trainer Nassam Yakubu and the technical staff over team selection at the World Cup.

Kwarasey took the 16-month break from the national team claiming performance and form does not decide who plays after he was axed following the Black Stars defeat to the USA at World Cup.

After several meeting and talks with Ghana coach Avram Grant and the leadership of the Ghana FA, Kwarasey has confirmed that he is making a return to the Black Stars.

"Adam Kwarasey confirms to me that he has been invited for Ghana's friendlies against Peru and Canada in October," journalist Evan Gyamera wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

If confirmed, Kwarasey’s return means there will be intense competition for places in the squad with goalkeepers Fatau Dauda and Richard Ofori all seeking to capture the first team place.

Spain-based Razak Brimah, who was first-choice at the AFCON 2015 tournament, has been the regular Black Stars goalkeeper starting matches for the national team.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that they are playing a friendly against Canada on 13 October but have not revealed a friendly with Peru.

However, the Black Stars are permitted to play two matches under the FIFA international break for next month.
