Kun Khalifat FC Launches Urgent Appeal for Financial Support Ahead of NPFL Season

Published on: 28 August 2025

Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri, Imo State, has issued an urgent call for financial backing as it prepares for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

In a statement signed by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Chukwudi Amaefule, management warned that without external assistance, the team’s ability to honour fixtures could be jeopardized.

Amaefule stressed that the challenge was not about commitment or passion, but the huge financial demands of top-flight football, which he estimated at nearly ?1 billion per season.

“We have achieved remarkable milestones, rising from the Nationwide League One to the Nigeria National League through sheer dedication and sacrifice. However, competing in the NPFL presents an entirely different challenge,” the CEO explained.

The club, described as “The Pride of Imo State,” appealed to the Imo State Government, corporate sponsors, fans, and the wider football community to rally behind them.

Amaefule insisted the plea was “not out of fear, but a call for partnership,” assuring that with proper sponsorship, Kun Khalifat FC can not only sustain its NPFL status but also achieve greater success in the future.

The statement concluded with a call for urgent intervention, stressing that only collective effort can keep the club’s NPFL dream alive.
