Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko have been invited to play in a “Say No to Xenophobia” tournament in South Africa this July.
Johannesburg-based Gzedsports Management and Projects is organizing the event which will run from 15-18 July.
A portion of the invitation letter read: “The tournament is aimed at combating the recent xenophobic attack on foreign nationals and to say ‘No to Xenophobia’.“
Kotoko General Manager Opoku Nti has given an indication the club would accept the invitation although concerns have been raised with the timing since the Ghana Premier League would be in session.
“We have had an invitation. It’s high on our agenda,” he told the Kotoko Express Newspaper.
