Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson, has declared his side’s readiness for this yaers CAF champions league campaign by saying they are pumped up for El Eulma’s challenge.
Kotoko have endured their most frustrating start to the domestic scene in a decade this season sitting on 14 place on the league log with 11 points from a potential 30.
Confidence is at all-time low with the team on a six game winless streak which includes an embarrassing 3-0 thumping by fellow strugglers Great Olympics in a cup match.
Despite the recent crisis which has seen management move to confirm the signing of David Duncan as the successor to Mas-Ud Dramani, Abeiku says the team is braced for the continental challenge.
‘I will be the first to admit that our performance has not been that which is accepted at Kotoko,” Abeiku told Ghanasoccernet.com
“But we have an opportunity to do some right in the Champions league and I am looking forward to the challenge.
“The guys are all looking forward to the challenge and from what we have spoken about I can declare we are pumped up for the challenge ahead.”
Kotoko have been knocked out of the CAF Champions league at the preliminary stages in the last two editions by Algerian side JSM Bejaia and Liberian side Barrack Young controllers in the last two editions.
