The Management of Kogi United Football Club on Monday unveiled former Jigawa Golden Star Player/Coach Gilbert Opana as the club's new Technical Adviser.
In a brief ceremony at the Club's office at Kogi State Government House Lokoja, the Chairman of the Club Honourable Abdulmalik Isah charged the new Coach to bring his wealth of experience and discipline to ensure speedy success for the Confluence State club.He also advised the gaffer to exhibit resilience, determination, hardwork and Passion for the job which will help ensure a quick return of the club to it's glory days.
The chairman of the state owned team Honourable Abdulmalik Isah (Dolly) said Coach Gilbert Opana was appointed based on his experience and track records with different clubs in the Nigeria football ecosystem and as such bringing such experience and rich CV to bare to ensure Kogi United fc gets promoted to the second tier of the Nigeria league.
He however showered praises on the Kogi State government led by Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unflinching and unwavering support to the State teams saying they are not going to take his kind Financial and Moral support and gesture for granted.
The New Technical Adviser thanked the management for finding him worthy and qualified for such enviable appointment and promised to do everything possible to ensure that the mandate given to him to return the club to the Nigeria National League is achieved at the end of the Forthcoming Nationwide League One season.
Coach Gilbert Opana who is a former Coach of Jigawa Golden Stars has been charged to ensure that Kogi United Fc returns to the Nation's second tier League, the Nigeria National League. He will be assisted by Coaches Mohammed Yusuf, Abdulazeez Adeiza and Taiye Ojo.
Kogi United Fc who Narrowly missed out on promotion last season will begin the quest for a return to the Nigeria National League come April 2025.
