Kane returns to training ahead of Madrid

Harry Kane trained outdoors with the Tottenham squad on Tuesday and will be assessed ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Kane missed Spurs defeats to West Ham and Manchester United last week after suffering a minor hamstring strain and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was cautious on his chances of facing the European champions at Wembley when asked on Saturday.

But the England international trained took part in training drills on Tuesday, along with Erik Lamela who has not played for a year due to hip problems.

Speaking at a news conference to preview the game, Pochettino said: "We're very confident [he will play] -- he's on the list. We have one more day to assess him but maybe it's possible he can play tomorrow. I don't want to say 100 percent because we have one more day. Today and yesterday was good at training. Now it's with medical staff to take the right decision.

"He was training with group and was good - at same level as team. We must know the feeling today, after tonight and tomorrow, how he is going to feel. And many other things. We'll take the best decision for him, first of all, and then for the team."

Victor Wanyama (knee) was Spurs' only absentee. The club confirmed the midfielder "is starting fieldwork training this week as he continues his recovery."

Spurs are level with Real on seven points at the top of their Champions League group after a 1-1 draw in Spain a fortnight ago.
