Kalu Gets New Coach At Bordeaux

Samuel Kalu will receive tactical instructions from a new coach at Girondin Bordeaux after Portuguese tactician Portugal’s Paulo Sousa was named coach of the club for the next four seasons.

Sousa succeeds Brazilian Ricardo, who was dismissed by Girondins Bordeaux the club announced.

The Portuguese gaffer will be the third coach of the team this season after Uruguayan coach Gustavo Poyet left the team early in the season.

Éric Bedouet was in charge of the team when they drew 1-1 away to AS Monaco in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Louis stadium.

Kalu came on for François Kamano in the 61st minute of the encounter. The game was Kalu’s 19th league game of the season. The former Gent star has scored three goals and provided two assists.

Jimmy Briand struck in the 65th minute to cancel out Radamel Falcao’s 48th-minute opener, denying the principality side their third win in four games.

Girondin Bordeaux are 13th in the Ligue 1 standings ten points off an Europa League spot. They face Rennes in their next Ligue 1 league game.

Sousa previously coached Queens Park Rangers, Swansea and Leicester City, Videoton, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Basel and Fiorentina before his last experience with Tianjin Tianhai in China.
