Juventus welcome Stade Rennais to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Thursday for the third matchday of the Europa League league phase, with both teams aiming to respond after disappointing domestic results at the weekend.
The match will kick off at 16:45 GMT on Thursday, 22 October 2026.
Juventus are among the 10 teams to have won both of their opening league-phase matches. They followed a 5-0 victory against NEC Nijmegen with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Celta Vigo last Thursday.
However, the Bianconeri were beaten 3-0 at home by Lazio on Sunday. It was their second defeat in seven matches in all competitions, alongside three wins and two draws.
The Turin club will take confidence from their European record at home. Juventus have won their past four continental matches at the Allianz Stadium, their best run at the ground since December 2021.
Rennes also remain unbeaten in the competition after a 2-1 victory over OFI Crete last week, giving them one win and one draw from their opening two fixtures.
The French side have recorded the Europa League’s lowest number of shots conceded, with 13, and the best expected-goals-against figure at 0.79.
That positive run was halted by a remarkable 4-3 defeat by Paris FC at the weekend. Rennes have also failed to win any of their past three away matches, drawing one and losing two, while they have failed to score in two of those games.
Previous meetings
The clubs have met only twice before, with both encounters taking place in the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup final.
Juventus won the tie 4-2 on aggregate after a 2-0 home victory on 10 August 1999 and a 2-2 draw at Rennes on 24 August. The result extended Rennes’ difficult record in Italy: they have lost all four of their European away matches there against four different clubs.
Juventus are considered favourites despite several significant absences and their heavy Serie A defeat by Lazio. Their strong European form at home is expected to give them the edge against a Rennes team that has struggled on the road and is without its leading scorer.
The match preview prediction is for a 2-1 Juventus victory.
The match will be shown in France on Canal+ Foot and myCANAL; in sub-Saharan Africa on SuperSport Premier League and New World Sport; in Belgium on DAZN and Proximus Pickx; in Switzerland on Blue Sport; in the Netherlands on Ziggo Sport; in Spain on Movistar Liga de Campeones; in the United States on Paramount+ and beIN XTRA; in North Africa on beIN Sports; and in Germany, Italy, Portugal and Austria on DAZN.
The listed betting odds are 1.57 for a Juventus win, 4.00 for a draw and 6.00 for a Rennes victory.
