Jules Kounde’s position at Barcelona has come under scrutiny after sporting director Deco held talks with the France defender’s agent on Thursday.
The meeting was reported by Sport, via derbyderbyderby.it, with the newspaper saying Barcelona’s hierarchy has concerns about Kounde’s physical condition. Those concerns have emerged alongside the rise of a new star, Xavi Esparta.
Kounde has been one of Barcelona’s leading performers in recent years since joining from Sevilla in 2022 for 50m euros. The right-back improved season by season and became an important part of manager Hansi Flick’s tactical plans.
However, his situation appears to have changed during the current campaign, with the club now assessing his condition and role.
